Painting can increase the component’s resistance to corrosion, wear and erosion and enhance the aesthetic qualities.
Aluminium castings can be finished with a range of painted finishes to meet client specifications. The most common types of painted finishes are powder and nylon coating, wet spray and specialised infra-red reflective painting.
A powdered pigment is sprayed onto the component and, through electrostatic attraction, is fused onto the surface of the casting in a curing oven. It is suitable for castings that require high levels of resistance to abrasion and contact.
Wet painting provides a higher level of surface finish and involves using a spray gun to cover the surfaces of the casting in a coloured pigment suspended in a solvent.
